Common Breath Media is a website developed by freelance reporter Steve Furay. His hopes are to unite people through the power of hip hop and blast negative stereo-types about the art form. The website is separated into various categories: Media Justice, Grassroots, Hip Hop, Human Rights, Environment, and world. He covers local Detroit hip hop artists and well as international artists, and movers and shakers within the arts community. One article focuses on MC Lyte's visit to the Detroit Public Library: "As one of the pioneers of hip hop, MC Lyte has been in tune with the importance of literacy throughout her prolific career, earning respect as one the most genuine artists to ever earn longevity as a rap artist."
This websites overall goal is to show that Hip Hop is an international language, and that is is one of "peaceful conflict resolution."
